Howard Hawks was born on May 30, 1896, in Elkhart County, Indiana and passed away on December 26, 1977, in Palm Springs, California. He was an American screenwriter, film producer, film director, actor, and aircraft pilot. Hawks held citizenship in the United States and was educated at institutions such as Phillips Exeter Academy, Cornell University College of Engineering, and Polytechnic School.
Hawks is known for his work in various genres, such as drama, gangster films, science fiction, film noir, war films, and westerns. Some of his notable films include Bringing Up Baby, Corvette K-225, The Thing from Another World, The Prizefighter and the Lady, Viva Villa!, and The Outlaw.
Hawks was also the director of numerous films, such as Red Line 7000, Viva Villa!, The Road to Glory, Fig Leaves, Paid to Love, The Criminal Code, Scarface, Cradle Snatchers, Today We Live, The Air Circus, and The Crowd Roars. He additionally directed films such as Ceiling Zero, Come and Get It, Bringing Up Baby, Only Angels Have Wings, His Girl Friday, Ball of Fire, A Song Is Born, and I Was a Male War Bride.
Later in his career, Hawks directed films like Gentlemen Prefer Blondes, Land of the Pharaohs, Hatari!, Man's Favorite Sport?, and Rio Lobo. He was also the director of the musical Gentlemen Prefer Blondes.
Howard Hawks had a child named Kitty Hawks and was related to Kenneth Hawks, William Hawks, Mary Astor, and Bessie Love.
