Hubertus von Baumbach is a businessman in the pharmaceutical industry. He is the chairman of the board of managing directors of Boehringer Ingelheim.
Von Baumbach participated in a banking apprenticeship and passed both the first and second German state legal examinations, making him eligible to work as a judge, prosecutor, or attorney. He later earned his Master's of Business Administration from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Von Baumbach then worked in the pharmaceutical industry before working in the financial sector for Boehringer Ingelheim in Canada. In 2009, he became a member of the board of managing directors for the company, where he was responsible for the finance and animal health divisions until 2012. From 2012 until 2016, von Baumbach was responsible for the finance division.
Von Baumbach became chairman of the managing board of directors for Boehringer Ingelheim on January 1, 2016, following the retirement of Professor Andreas Barner. In June 2021, von Baumbach gained another leadership position when he became president of the European Federation of Pharmaceutical Industries and Associations (EFPIA).
