Huda Kattan is a makeup artist, beauty blogger and vlogger who runs the immensely famous ‘Huda Beauty’ blog which is the No. 1 blog in the Middle East. She also has a hugely popular YouTube channel. While she is definitely the best known beauty blogger and vlogger in the Middle East where few women venture into the world of fashion and makeup, she is also counted amongst the top 20 beauty bloggers worldwide. Born to Iraqi parents in the US but currently residing in Dubai, Kattan gets to enjoy several advantages that women born and raised in the Middle East are deprived of. For one thing, she grew up in an open Western society where she received ample opportunities to explore her interests in fashion and makeup. She also got the chance to attend the Joe Blasco makeup school, the No.1 leading makeup school worldwide. Upon venturing into a career as a makeup artist and eventually moving into the social media realm, she realized that Dubai offered better career prospects for her as beauty bloggers in the Middle East were a rarity. Thus she moved to Dubai and has since not only established herself as a phenomenally popular blogger and vlogger—she has more than 1.8 million followers on YouTube—but has also built the cosmetics brand ‘Huda Beauty’ alongside her sisters.

Career

Huda Kattan’s first paid job had nothing to do with beauty or fashion! This popular blogger and YouTuber actually studied finance at the University of Michigan and landed a cushy job after graduation. However, she was not happy with her life and wanted to do something else. Inclined towards fashion and makeup from a young age, she decided to do a course at the famous Joe Blasco makeup school. This course changed her life for the better and led her to her destiny as a beauty blogger and vlogger. She started her blog ‘Huda Beauty’ in 2010 and it did not take her long to become immensely popular. Her identity as an Iraqi American gave her a unique edge over the other beauty bloggers who were predominantly of the white race. Young women from the Middle East instantly took a liking to this raven haired, dark eyed beauty who looked like one among them. Her blog is undeniably the No.1 blog in the Middle East and is also tremendously popular in other countries across the world.

Motivated by the resounding success of the blog, Huda Kattan ventured into vlogging as well, and started posting videos on beauty tips and DIY fashion hacks. The vlog soon started attracting hordes of young women from all over the world, and as of June 2017, it had over 1.8 million subscribers. One of her most popular videos is ‘Why Shaving Your Face is Awesome!’ in which she explains why she shaves her face to keep her skin smooth and youthful looking. The video has amassed over 3 million views! Another of her videos, titled ‘DIY Beauty | Toothbrush Blackhead Remover-BEST EVER?!’ is also very popular, with over 9 million views. She is also an Instagram superstar and has a staggering 20.6 million followers there!

Along with being a blogger and a vlogger, Huda Kattan is also a smart businesswoman and the mastermind behind the immensely successful cosmetics brand, ‘Huda Beauty.’ The brand’s false lashes are best sellers in the Middle East, and are all set to conquer the Western beauty markets as well. Her family members, including her father and sisters help her in running her business.
