In February 2021, the merger of IFF and DuPont Nutrition & Biosciences business, pursuant to a Reverse Morris Trust transaction, was completed with the combined company operating under the name IFF. IFF is the abbreviation for International Flavors and Fragrences, Inc. the name of the company since 1958. DuPont Nutrition & Health merged with Industrial Biosciences in 2019 to form DuPont Nutrition & Biosciences based in Denmark. The business focused on Food & Beverage, Health & Bioscience and Pharma Solutions.
Dupont Nutrition & Biosciences produced specialty food ingredients including antioxidants, emulsifiers, enzymes and fat replacements for baked, dairy, meat, beverage, confectionery and snack-food products. The company also offered pharmaceutical ingredients.
The former DuPont subsidiary DuPont Nutrition and Health, at their US and France locations, collaborated with researchers at Université Laval (Canada) in research on anti-CRISPR proteins. In 2018 Université Laval and Dupont Nutrition Bioscences applied for a patent on methods and compositions for use of anti-CRISPR (ACR) proteins in plants.
In 2022, IFF partnered with Israeli food tech startup SimpliiGood, formerly known as AlgaeCore to produce a smoked salmon analog from the blue-green microalgae, spirulina.
IFF acquired Health Wright Products, a manufacturer of dietary supplement formulation and capsules, in April, 2022.
IFF Health and Biosciences is a division of IFF focused on bioscience and microbiome-based innovations in the food & beverage, home & personal care and health & wellness markets. This IFF division aims to provide their customers with enhancements to products and processes to achieve safer, healthier and more sustainable solutions.
The IFF Nourish division combines taste, food and beverage segments. The IFF Scent division is focused on fragrances and scent solutions for cosmetics, personal, fabric and home care. IFF Pharma Solutions develops ingredients, products and applications in support of pharma and dietary supplements.
