IQM is a quantum computing company building scalable hardware for universal quantum computers, focusing on superconducting technology. They develop 2nd generation quantum processors based on proprietary technology thats aims to demonstrate the fastest qubit reset and readout in the industry. The company evolved out of research being done at VTT University and Aalto University.
In July 2019, IQM raised $13M in Seed funding. The investors are Matadero QED, Maki.vc, MIG Fonds, OpenOcean, Tesi (Finnish Industry Investment), and Vito Ventures.
In September 2019, IQM announced a partnership with JoS Quantum, a software startup based in Frankfurt Germany. JoS QUANTUM builds quantum computing software for finance, insurance and energy.
The company was founded in 2018 by 3 scientists at Aalto University Jan Goetz, Mikko Möttönen, Kuan Yen Tan, as well as software engineer Juha Vartiainen. IQM's headquarters are on the Otaniemi research campus in Espoo near Helsinki. Close to Aalto University and VTT Technical Research Center Finland allows IQM a smooth integration of fabrication processes and experimental work.
