Ian MacKaye

Ian MacKaye, born Ian Thomas Garner MacKaye on April 16, 1962, in Washington, D.C., is an American musician, songwriter, and record producer. He is a guitarist, composer, and singer known for his work in a variety of genres, such as alternative rock, experimental rock, hardcore punk, punk rock, post-hardcore, and indie rock. MacKaye is a citizen of the United States and has spent his career in the music industry, primarily based in Washington, D.C.

MacKaye is the founder of Dischord Records and has also worked as an archivist. He attended Woodrow Wilson High School in Washington, D.C.
