Igor Volk (April 12, 1937 - January 3, 2017) was an aircraft pilot, astronaut, test pilot, military personnel, and officer in the armed forces. He was born in Zmiiv and held citizenship in the Soviet Union and Russia. Volk was educated at the Gromov Flight Research Institute and the Moscow Aviation Institute. He passed away in Plovdiv.
Throughout his life, Volk received numerous awards, including Order of the Red Banner of Labor, Honored Test Pilot of the USSR, The Order of Lenin, Order of Friendship of Peoples, Order of Merit for the Fatherland (4th class), and Medal "For Merit in Space Exploration" (April 12, 2011). Additionally, he was named an honorary citizen of the city of Zhukovsky on July 25, 1986.
