Imbellus

Imbellus is a company developing competency-based assessments to help measure a person’s potential. The company was established in 2015 by Rebecca Kantar. It aims to help employers screen job applicants through its assessments. Imbellus is based in Los Angeles, California.

Imbellus provides its clients with the assessment platform needed to screen the applicants according to the skills that they need to have to succeed in the job. Imbellus’s assessments are online scenario-based tasks that applicants need to complete. It specifically targets skills that cannot yet be replaced by machines. Some of these skills are problem-solving, creative thinking, and logical reasoning.

Since 2016, Imbellus has received $22.5 million through four funding rounds, with its most recent held in October 2018. This Series A funding round amassed $14.5 million. As of March 2019, Imbellus has eight investors, with two of them as lead investors. Some of Imbellus’ past investors include Thrive Capital, Owl Ventures, Rethink Education, and Upfront Ventures.
