Hungarian mathematician, philosopher
Imre Lakatos (1922-1974) was a mathematician, philosopher, and physicist. He was born on November 9, 1922, in Debrecen, Hungary. Throughout his life, he held citizenship in Hungary, the United Kingdom, and was stateless for some time. Lakatos passed away in London on February 2, 1974.
Lakatos was educated at the University of Debrecen, Moscow State University, and the University of Cambridge. His doctoral advisor was renowned mathematician George Pólya.
