In 2020, Index Ventures raised $2 billion to fund start-ups in their early and late stages. Below is an excerpt from a statement published by the company in April 9, 2020.
Innovation is often born out of adversity, and we have no doubt that the vision of future founders will be critical to the world’s social and economic recovery; their fresh thinking driving growth in the economy and building our resilience in the face of future threats. We are proud to have raised $2bn in new funds to support this next generation of entrepreneurs.
In 2021, Index Ventures closed three funds. The close gives the firm $3 billion in capital to deploy into emerging start-ups and existing portfolio companies, which include Plaid, Deliveroo and Revolut, which was valued at $33 billion. The firm's new capital comes a little over a year since it closed its last funds, which were a combination of $1.2 billion for growth-stage investments and $800 million for early-stage investments. The 2021 trio of funds include the following:
- A $900 million early-stage fund
- A $2 billion growth-stage fund
- A previously announced $200 million seed-stage fund
