Innosuisse is a the Swiss Innovation Agency, funding and generating interest in science-backed innovation. They work to support competitiveness in Swiss SME's and provide a variety of services and resources to entrepreneurs and innovators. They are a government agency funding research and innovation in the applied sciences across Switzerland and with international partners. They work to provide funding and advising for startups along with educational training and resources to entrepreneurs, students, and innovators. Innosuisse also provides mentoring services along with their own research to test feasibility of proposed innovations. They invest in research and development in the fields of science and technology and have targeted programs for these sectors.
Innosuisse took the place of The Swiss Commission for Technology and innovation (CIT) in 2018, as one of the main funding agencies for research and innovation in Switzerland.
The Board of Directors directs the company in its long-term goals, while also giving consideration to the goals of the Federal Council. Board members serve four years: there are seven board members including the president, currently Andre Kudelski, and the vice president, currently Luciana Vaccaro. The Innovation Council focuses on the implementation of the funded activities in scientific and innovation-related fields and prepares proposals for funding strategy for review by board members. The management department of Innosuisse manages business and office affairs. The Swiss Federal Audit Office (SFAO) is Innosuisse's auditor, reviewing annual financial statements and accessing risk management. They report to the Board of Directors as well as the Federal Council. Innosuisse works with several partners including the Swiss National Science Foundation (SNSF) and the State Secretariat for Education, Research and Innovation (SERI). Innosuisse is a member of TAFTIE, the European network of innovation agencies.
