Integrated DNA Technologies

Integrated DNA technologies was founded in 1987 as part of a collaboration between Baxter Healthcare and the University of Iowa. It is headquartered in Coralville, Iowa. The company is a major supplier of custom sequences of DNA and RNA for research, commercial, and diagnostic applications. It is one of the key partners and sponsors of the iGEM Foundation's annual iGEM Competition, supplying every team in the competition with 20 kilobases (kb) of free DNA.

IDT offered preferred pricing and early access to coronavirus research tools in the wake of the disease outbreak caused by 2019-nCoV that was declared a global emergency by the World Health Organization. The coronavirus strain has more recently been renamed SARS-CoV-2 with the disease called COVID-19 (coronavirus disease). IDT is manufacturing virus detection panels to meet the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommendations and positive and negative controls for SARS-CoV-2 (2019-nCoV). The company provides gene fragments and synthetic genes called eBlocks and gBlocks for researchers working on vaccine development and therapeutic interventions. IDT set up a dedicated page to assist researchers in disease testing or vaccine development.
