The International Safety Equipment Association is a trade association of safety equipment companies. The association was founded in 1933 in the United States.
The association looks to provide the standard for personal protective technologies and equipment to enable people to work in hazardous environments. ISEA works with the United States congress and other government agencies to consult with policymakers whose decisions affect the industry. They are comprised of member companies that include suppliers, distributors, test labs, and other related service providers.
COVID-19
Since the outbreak of the novel COVID-19 virus (coronavirus), ISEA has followed industries, governments, supply chains, and especially manufacturers and suppliers of personal protective equipment (PPE). The association claims that there is a shortage of PPE due to a lack of preparedness to the scale of the pandemic.
Manufacturers such as Brooks Brother and Hanes have partnered with ISEA to increase the volume of products to be used in response to the shortages of PPE. ISEA has also placed orders for 500 million respirators from the federal government.
