Based in Des Moines, Iowa, USA. Is the farm club of the NHL team "Minnesota Wild". Initially, the team was called the Houston Aeros and played in the International Hockey League, and later in the American Hockey League.
In the spring of 2013, it was announced that the club's management could not agree with the Toyota Center, where the team used to perform, and that the Aeros would move to Des Moines, Iowa. Starting from the 2013-14 season, the team will perform at Wells Fargo Arena, under the new name, "Iowa Wild". The team played its first match under the new name on October 12, against the Oklahoma City Barons club, the match ended with a 1-0 victory. Despite a successful debut, the season turned out to be a failure, the team turned out to be the worst in the Western Conference. The following season turned out to be no better, the Iowa Wild showed the worst result in the entire league. In its history, the team has never made it to the playoffs.
The mascot of the team is Crash. He wears a sweater with the number 14, symbolizing the year when he moved from his native Minnesota to the south. According to the team's official website, Crash is a distant relative of Nordi, the Minnesota Wild mascot.
