Irving Stone (1903-1989) was an American writer with several occupations, including novelist, screenwriter, and playwright. Born in San Francisco on July 14, 1903, Stone was a United States citizen. He studied at the University of Southern California.
Throughout his career, Stone focused on writing biographical novels based on the lives of historical figures. Some of his best-known works include "Lust for Life," a fictionalized biography of Vincent van Gogh, and "The Agony and the Ecstasy," based on the life of Michelangelo. Stone passed away on August 26, 1989, in Los Angeles.
