J. B. Priestley (born September 13, 1894) was an English novelist, playwright, screenwriter, broadcaster, and social commentator. Born in Bradford, Priestley held citizenship in the United Kingdom. Over the course of his life, he worked as a novelist, playwright, writer, journalist, and poet. He studied at Trinity Hall, Cambridge and sometimes used the pseudonym Peter Goldsmith.
Priestley was married to Jacquetta Hawkes and had three children: Sylvia Goaman, Mary Priestley, and Tom Priestley. One of his notable works is the play "Laburnum Grove". J. B. Priestley passed away on August 14, 1984, in Stratford-upon-Avon.
