John Burdon Sanderson Haldane , also known as J. B. S. Haldane, was a British-Indian scientist born in Oxford on November 5, 1892. He was a prominent biologist, geneticist, and biochemist. Haldane studied at Eton College, the University of Oxford, and Dragon School. His father was John Scott Haldane, and his doctoral advisor was Frederick Gowland Hopkins. One of his notable doctoral students was John Maynard Smith.
Haldane contributed significantly to population genetics. Throughout his life, he held citizenship in the United Kingdom, India, and British Raj. He passed away in Bhubaneswar on December 1, 1964.
