J. Presper Eckert (full name: John Adam Presper Eckert, Jr.) was born on April 9th, 1919, in Philadelphia. He was a computer scientist, engineer, and physicist from the United States. Eckert was educated at the University of Pennsylvania School of Engineering and Applied Science.
He is best known as the co-founder of UNIVAC, a company specializing in the production of the first commercial computer that bears the same name. J. Presper Eckert passed away on June 3rd, 1995, in Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania.
In recognition of his contributions, Eckert was inducted into the National Inventors Hall of Fame in 2002.
