He is an American actor, comedian and musician.
He was born August 28, 1969, in Santa Monica, California, USA.
His parents, Judith and Thomas William Black, are engineers.
Black's mother is Jewish, and his father converted to Judaism, that's why his son was brought up as a Jew. His parents divorced when he was 10. Jack moved with his father to Culver City, later they moved to France.
The future actor attended the University of California in Los Angeles. He made his first professional step onto the stage, appearing in Tim Robbins' 1989 production of Carnage at the Edinburgh Festival.
He made his film debut in 1992 in the political satire Bob Roberts. Throughout the 90s, Jack Black continued to star in supporting and starring roles in various films.
In 2000, the actor got one of his best roles in High Fidelity. In this film, Jack Black demonstrated his talent as a musician on the big screen.
The actor began appearing frequently on the television shows "Saturday Night Live," "Primetime Glick," "The Osbournes" and music and movie ceremonies.
In 2003, Black starred in his first big hit directed by Richard Linklater, the musical comedy "School of Rock," in which he played the role of a heavy metal guitarist who teaches a skill to earn cash. Critics were so impressed with the actor's performance that they even nominated him for a Golden Globe.
