French mathematician
Jacques-Louis Lions was a mathematician and professor from France. He was born on May 3, 1928, in Grasse and passed away on May 17, 2001, in Paris. Lions was a well-known figure in the field of mathematics and had a diverse career.
Laurent Schwartz served as Lions' doctoral advisor, while Lions would go on to mentor doctoral student Michelle Schatzman. Additionally, he was the father of Pierre-Louis Lions, who also became an esteemed mathematician.
