Jacques Demy was a French film director, screenwriter, lyricist, film producer, and actor born on June 5, 1931, in Pontchâteau, France . Demy directed several films, including "Donkey Skin" , "A Slightly Pregnant Man" , "Bay of Angels" , "The Umbrellas of Cherbourg" , "The Young Girls of Rochefort" , "Model Shop" , "Une chambre en ville" , and "Three Seats for the 26th" .
His nationality was French , and he was married to Agnès Varda . Demy's son, Mathieu Demy, followed in his father's footsteps, also becoming involved in the film industry . Jacques Demy was known for two of his mid-1960's musicals, "The Umbrellas of Cherbourg" (1964) and "The Young Girls of Rochefort" (1967) . In recognition of his work, Demy received a Google Doodle . Jacques Demy passed away on October 27, 1990, in Paris .
