Early life
Jaden Smith was born on July 8, 1998 in Malibu, California to actors Jada Pinkett Smith and Will Smith. He has an older half-brother, Trey Smith (born 1992) and a younger sister, Willow Smith (born 2000). Smith attended the New Village Leadership Academy before his parents transitioned to homeschooling. Growing up, Smith's celebrity status due to his starring in films such as The Pursuit of Happyness and his parents, both established actors, resulted in him being isolated from a normal childhood, which he has spoken at length about. . Jayden's influences include Kid Cudi, Kanye West, Kurt Cobain and Tycho. Smith also credits his father, Will Smith, as an inspiration, saying, “He started in music and moved on to film. Jayden has named Tyler, The Creator, Batman and Poseidon as his icons when it comes to fashion. Smith said that Tyler, the Creator introduced him to Supreme. Smith is a partner in the spring water company Just Water, which began operations when he was only twelve years old. Just Water is trying to create a low-cost water filtration system that can be used in poor areas and countries, and wants to later help with water infrastructure and cleaner building practices by producing its own drywall.
