James Hope-Scott (born 15 July 1812 in Great Marlow, Scotland), was a notable barrister and politician. As a citizen of Scotland, he pursued education at prominent institutions such as Christ Church, Oxford, Eton College, and the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst.
James was the son of Alexander Hope, a British Army officer. Among his accomplishments, Hope-Scott was also the owner of Abbotsford, British Columbia. Drawing his lineage forward, James' son, James Hope, became the 1st Baron Rankeillour.
James Hope-Scott's life came to an end on 29 April 1873.
