James Rothman, born on November 3, 1950, in Haverhill, Massachusetts, is an American scientist known for his work as a physician, biochemist, and biologist. He pursued his education at Harvard University and has worked under the guidance of his doctoral advisor Eugene P. Kennedy. Rothman has also mentored doctoral student Sandra Schmid.
