American novelist and short-story writer
James Salter (1925-2015) was an American novelist, screenwriter, film director, and writer known for his work in multiple genres, including romance novels. Born in New York City on October 6, 1925, he held United States citizenship.
Salter was educated at Horace Mann School and the United States Military Academy. Throughout his career, he held various occupations such as aircraft pilot, novelist, screenwriter, writer, and film director. He often used the pseudonym James Salter in his works.
