Jan Matejko

Jan Matejko was born on June 24, 1838, in Kraków , and was a Polish painter who specialized in history paintings , portrait paintings , and religious paintings . His notable works include Battle of Grunwald , Stańczyk , Constitution of May 3, 1791 , and Prussian Homage . Matejko later passed away on November 1, 1893, also in Kraków ,.

As for his education, Jan Matejko had attended multiple institutions including Bartłomiej Nowodworski High School , Jan Matejko Academy of Fine Arts , Jagiellonian University , and Academy of Fine Arts in Munich . In his lifetime, he held citizenship in the Free City of Cracow and Austria-Hungary .

Jan Matejko was the father of Helena Unierzyska , and was the son of Franciszek Ksawery Matejko .
