Jean-Paul Marat (24 May 1743 – 13 July 1793) was a French politician, journalist, physician, physicist, and physician writer. He was an influential figure in French politics, also being involved in government and activism. Marat was born in Boudry, Switzerland, and held citizenship in both France and Switzerland. Throughout his career, he was associated with the University of St Andrews for his education.
Marat was known by the pseudonym L'Ami du peuple, and he was the founder of the publication under the same name . He died in Paris on 13th July 1793, at the age of 50. His contributions and roles as a political figure in France were significant during his time.He was also known with the alias Jean-Paul Mara.
