Jerry Garcia was a guitarist, musician, composer, singer-songwriter, film director, and singer, best known as the founder of the Grateful Dead . Born Jerome John Garcia on August 1, 1942, in San Francisco, he was an American citizen. Jerry Garcia was named after composer Jerome Kern.
He attended several educational institutions, including San Francisco Art Institute, Balboa High School in California, and Analy High School. Throughout his career, Garcia explored various music genres, including psychedelic rock, rhythm and blues, progressive rock, bluegrass music, folk rock, blues rock, and country music.
Garcia passed away on August 9, 1995, in Lagunitas-Forest Knolls, California. Throughout his career, he made a notable impact in the music industry.
