She was born April 28, 1981 in Pomona (California, USA).

After school she studied at the theater studio "Atlantic Theater Company".

Some time after the birth of her daughter the family moved to Biloxi, Mississippi. The family was not very prosperous, her father was a Mexican who refused to be hired anywhere.
