The Nobel Prize in Chemistry was awarded to Jacques Dubochet, Joachim Frank and Richard Henderson in 2017 “for developing cryo-electron microscopy for the high-resolution structure determination of biomolecules in solution”.
Frank is a Professor at Columbia University since 2008 as Professor of Biochemistry and Molecular Biophysics and Professor of Biological Sciences. Frank studied mechanisms of protein synthesis using ribosome images and by achieving frame-by-frame representations of how mRNA and tRNA interact with the ribosome.
