Johann Strauss I (1804-1849) was an Austrian composer born in Leopoldstadt. He held Austrian nationality and was a citizen of the Austrian Empire. Strauss composed classical music and is best known for his notable work, Radetzky March.
Throughout his life, Johann Strauss I had three children: Johann Strauss II, Josef Strauss, and Eduard Strauss. His son Josef Strauss was also a notable composer.
He passed away in Vienna on September 25, 1849.
