Johannes Bugenhagen (born June 24, 1485) was a Protestant reformer from Pomerania, Germany. He was educated at the University of Greifswald. Bugenhagen was a key figure in the Protestant Reformation and worked closely with other reformers like Martin Luther. As part of his reform efforts, he founded the Katharineum, a school that played an essential role in spreading Lutheran education throughout northern Germany. He held German citizenship and died in Wittenberg on April 20, 1558.
