John Garfield (born Jacob Julius Garfinkle) was born on March 4, 1913, in Manhattan. He was a United States actor and later also became an investor. Garfield was well-known as a character actor in his acting career. He founded the Hollywood Canteen, an entertainment venue for U.S. servicemen during World War II.
