John I, Duke of Brabant

John I, Duke of Brabant was born in 1252 in France and is known to have held German citizenship . He was the son of Henry III, Duke of Brabant , and Adelaide of Burgundy, Duchess of Brabant . He passed away on May 3, 1294, in Bar-le-Duc, France .

Aside from being the Duke of Brabant, John I also pursued various occupations, including being a writer , a politician , a composer , and a poet . He was also referred to by the aliases Lothier and Limburg and was venerated as a folk hero .

John I had several children, including John I, Duke of Brabant , Margaret of Brabant , Marie of France, Duchess of Brabant , John II, Duke of Brabant , and Marie of Brabant, Countess of Savoy .
