John McTiernan was born on August 1, 1951, in Albany, New York. He holds citizenship in the United States and has worked as a film director, film producer, actor, and screenwriter. McTiernan received his education at the prestigious Juilliard School.
Some of his notable directorial works include the films Medicine Man, Nomads, Die Hard, and The 13th Warrior. He served as a board member and creator for films such as The Thomas Crown Affair, Die Hard with a Vengeance, and The Hunt for Red October.
