John Polanyi (born January 23, 1929) is a chemist and physicist with Canadian, Hungarian, and German citizenship. He was born in Berlin, Germany, and is currently living in Germany.
Polanyi received his education from Manchester Grammar School, the University of Manchester, and the University of Toronto. His father, Michael Polanyi, was also an accomplished scientist.
In 1986, John Polanyi was awarded the Nobel Prize in Chemistry for his work. He has mentored doctoral students, including Andrew Hudson. Throughout his career, Polanyi has made significant contributions to both the fields of chemistry and physics.
