American mathematician
John Tukey, born on June 16, 1915, in New Bedford, Massachusetts, was a mathematician, statistician, computer scientist, and chemist. He held citizenship in the United States and was educated at Brown University.
During his lifetime, Tukey contributed to various fields, guiding and mentoring doctoral students, including Arthur P. Dempster. He passed away on July 26, 2000, in New Brunswick, New Jersey.
