His real name is Ernesto Cloma Briones Jr.
During his university studies, with the help of a producer friend, he auditioned for and became a member of the cast of the musical Miss Saigon (1989). For his role as the Engineer, he was nominated for the Laurence Olivier Award for Best Actor in a Musical in 2015.
In 2003, he made his television debut in the series Las Vegas (Cosme).
He is best known for his roles as Modesto on American Crime Story and Ariel on American Horror Story.
In 2010, he received U.S. citizenship.
