British writer of fantasy fiction
Jonathan Stroud (born 27 October 1970) is a writer from the United Kingdom, known for his work in children's literature and fantasy. Stroud was born in Bedford and holds British citizenship. He is an alumnus of the University of York.
Throughout his career as a novelist, Stroud has written several popular works, including "The Leap," "Buried Fire," and "Heroes of the Valley." He is also known for his fantasy series "The Bartimaeus Trilogy," which consists of "The Amulet of Samarkand," "The Golem's Eye," and "Ptolemy's Gate." Stroud later published a prequel to the trilogy, titled "The Ring of Solomon."
In addition to his stand-alone novels and "The Bartimaeus Trilogy," Stroud has authored "The Lockwood & Co." series, which includes "The Screaming Staircase" and "The Whispering Skull."
