Joseph Archer Crowe

The father of the Crowe brothers, Ira Evans Crowe, was the Paris correspondent of the London newspaper "Morning Chronicle", so the childhood and youth of both brothers were largely spent in Paris. Here they started painting together. At the same time, John Archer Crowe followed his father into a career as a journalist.

During the Crimean War, as a correspondent for the Illustrated London News newspaper, he was in Turkey in 1853-1854, and in Crimea in 1855-1856.
