Joseph Meyer (born September 9, 1796 in Gotha, died June 27, 1856 in Hildburghausen) was a German author and publisher, holding citizenship of both Germany and Saxe-Gotha. He is best known as the founder of Bibliographisches Institut, a leading German publishing house that was established in the 19th century.
