Joyce Carol Oates

Joyce Carol Oates , born on June 16, 1938 , is an American author, poet, playwright, novelist, screenwriter, and professor . She has used the pseudonyms Lauren Kelly and Rosamond Smith . Born in Lockport, a city in New York , Oates has American citizenship .

She is an alumnus of several educational institutions, including the University of Detroit Mercy, Rice University, Syracuse University, Williamsville South High School, and the University of Wisconsin–Madison . Some of her notable works are "The Falls" and "Black Water" .
