Julia Child (born August 15, 1912, in Pasadena, California) was a 20th-century American writer, cook, and television presenter. She is best known for her television program, "The French Chef", which premiered in 1963. Child passed away on August 13, 2004, in Santa Barbara, California.
Child received her education at Smith College and The Branson School. Her father was John D. McWilliams. In addition to "The French Chef", Child authored several notable works, including "Julia's Kitchen Wisdom", "The French Chef", and "Julia Child's Kitchen".
