JumpStart Ventures was a Chicago-based venture capital firm co-founded by Rishi Shah and Shradha Agarwal, the co-founders of Outcome Health (formerly known as ContextMedia). The firm is inactive since Shah and Agarwal's indictment and subsequent criminal trial for securities fraud and other charges related to their time at Outcome Health. JumpStart Ventures received operational support from Outcome Health executives Brad Purdy and Jim Demas.
JumpStart Ventures was started in October 2011 and was among the most active early-stage venture capital fund operating in the Chicago startup market. The firm made investments in over 30 companies including SMS Assist, Built In, YCharts, and Shiftgig, among others.
JumpStart Ventures did not have limited partners. "It's more of a personal investment vehicle than anything else," Shah told Crain's Chicago Business reporter John Pletz in a March 2014 interview.
