K. J. Yesudas, born Kattassery Joseph Yesudas on January 10, 1940, is a playback singer and music producer in the Indian music industry. He was born in Fort Kochi, India, to Augustine Joseph. Yesudas specializes in Indian classical music and is known for his noteworthy song Harivarasanam.
Yesudas was educated at St John De Britto Anglo-Indian High School and later attended Swathi Thirunal College of Music. Vijay Yesudas, one of his children, is also a prominent singer.
Throughout his career, Yesudas has received numerous awards, including the Padma Shri, Padma Bhushan, and Padma Vibhushan. Additionally, he has been recognized with the Kalaimamani, Lata Mangeshkar Award, and Swathi Sangeetha Puraskaram, among other prominent accolades.
