Founded by Jeff Citron in 2011, KEC is an early-stage venture capital firm based in New York City. It is also known as Particle Ventures. The company focuses on entrepreneurs and companies that are building disruptive and innovative companies and invests in a wide range of asset classes.
Previously a private equity fund, KEC Ventures have raised $165 million across 3 funds. KEC Ventures Fund 1 raised $40 million in 2011, KEC Ventures II raised $60 million in 2014 and KEC Ventures II LP raising $65 million in 2016.
KEC Ventures invest in companies from very early stage technology enabled startups to late stage traditional private equity transactions as well as pre-IPO private placements in debt, hybrid securities and equity. KEC Ventures portfolio includes companies like Fabletics, feed.fm and Canvs. Exits include Wedding Spot, FireBlade and live video app Kanvas which was purchased by AOL. It make investments in the public and private markets though established third-party managers.
