The Dutch company KEUNE HAIRCOSMETICS was founded by chemist Jan KEUNE on February 6, 1922 in the center of old Amsterdam. The company started as a pharmacy with a chemical factory.
In 1923, Jan Keune created the first KEUNE product, the hot perm. Thus, Jan Keune became the first Dutch manufacturer of perm products.
In 1951, Jan Keune made a world discovery in the HAIRS industry, he invented and patented a Nitron-based chemical formula for cold perm hair (Securit Perm Lotion). The new formula made it possible to maintain the quality of the hair at the time of the perm. The cold method gave a minimum load on the hair structure, and the effect was achieved much faster. The company expanded rapidly and began exporting its products worldwide. Nitron is a symbol of safety, and safety is one of the most important philosophical principles of KEUNE, therefore, since the 60s of the last century, it has been the main element of the brand logo.
