Company attributes
Established in 1897, KVINT is an acronym for Kon’iaki, vina i napitki Tiraspol’ia (cognacs, wines, and beverages of Tiraspol). It is a winery and distillery located in Tiraspol, the administrative center of Transnistria. KVINT exports to Italy, China, Russia, and Ukraine. KVint was privatized in 2006 and is owned by the conglomerate Sheriff Ltd. The company's bottles are labeled "Made in Moldova" since Transnistria is landlocked inside Moldova and is not recognized as a sovereign country, and it is a requirement for bottles to be printed with the name of a country of origin.
The company produced vodka until 1938, when it included brandies. The company's Prince Wittgenstein brandy incorporates Bianca, Aligoté, Pervenets of Magarach, Riesling, Riton, Suruchensky White, Ugni Blanc, and Colombard grapes. The company grows European red grapes, like Malbec, Ancelotti, Saperavi, Viognier, and Syrah.
