Karl Ferdinand Braun was a physicist and inventor born on June 6, 1850, in Fulda, Germany . He is widely known for his contributions to the Braun tube, Cat's whisker diode, Sparkless antenna circuit, phased array, and the Le Chatelier-Braun principle .
Braun was educated at the University of Marburg , Humboldt University of Berlin , and the University of Strasbourg . His doctoral advisor was August Kundt . Some of his notable doctoral students included Richard Gans , Godfrey Thomson , and Leonid Mandelstam .
Karl Ferdinand Braun received the Nobel Prize for his work in the field of Physics . He passed away on April 20, 1918, in New York City .
