Kate Beckinsale, studying at the private London school Godolphin, while still a teenager, was twice awarded the W. Smith Young Writers Award - the first time for a short story, the second time for three poems. Already at school, Kate Beckinsale became interested in acting.
Kate made her film debut in the World War II television film One Against the Wind, which was released in the United States in late 1991.
Kate entered Oxford University in the autumn of the same year, choosing French and Russian literature as her main specialization. And although even then she firmly decided to become an actress for herself, Kate Beckinsale nevertheless decided to expand her horizons, preferring a full-fledged university education to studying at an acting school.
However, already in her freshman year, she got a role in an adaptation of Shakespeare's "Much Ado About Nothing", filmed by Kenneth Brann.
